"Long Live Libraries!" Our Fun-Filled National Library Week!

Last week was National Library Week, and we celebrated libraries and our library!
First, RAA middle and high school classes celebrated the new outdoor library space during their weekly visits last week. Upon returning from spring break, middle and high school students experienced an Extreme Makeover Home Edition-style reveal of the outdoor space, complete with shock, smiles, a little jumping, and the junior class even refusing to leave! The outdoor air and comfortable seats, offering plenty of space to spread out, proved to be a welcome respite for our older students in a book-filled environment.

Our elementary students also enjoyed the week's National Library Week celebrations with plenty of fun events, including Blanket Fort/DEAR time in the library, Library Trivia during library class, and a StoryWalk that began at the library and ended behind 3rd grade.

As if that wasn't enough, Read-a-thon participants who reached their reading and fundraising goals celebrated their accomplishments at the Read-a-thon Pizza Party at Shakey's Pizza! With bellies full of pizza, mojo potatoes, and popsicles, students returned to school with smiles and were already looking forward to reaching more reading goals for next year's event!
