Dear RAA Family,

This first week of online instruction has been a whirlwind for us all -- teachers scrambling to navigate remote learning tools, children fighting over online devices, parents' workplaces in an upheaval -- through it all though, we grow stronger!  Why do we grow stronger?  Realizing that our faith is feeble, we call these uncertain times a "challenge" and turn to God. There are things which are completely out of our control, but maybe, just maybe, this brings us some perspective on life outside of ourselves. What a blessing to be able to take a moment or two and reflect on God's word.  Psalms 46:10 says "Be still and know that I am God".  I encourage you to take a moment and be still . . . and listen to God. . . What do you hear?

After taking this quiet moment, I want to transition to providing some assurances; our teaching faculty know the stresses you face and desire to alleviate the pressure your child/ren feel.  As we process the new reality of COVID-19 and what it has done to our normalcy the RAA administration and faculty understand the need for patience, flexibility and adaptability in this ever-changing environment.  Even though this is the last day of the quarter, additional time will be granted to allow students to turn assignments in.

It was announced yesterday afternoon that the San Bernadino County Schools will be closed at least until May 1, 2020.  The administration has been directed to follow our local school district (Redlands Unified School District) with regard to student attendance, however, unlike our public school neighbors, RAA will be conducting remote learning through Google Classroom, zoom meetings etc.  The administration has seen a need to create a unified schedule in JH /HS for zoom classes so there is adequate time for students to participate with teachers, in real-time (allowing for immediate feedback which promotes comprehension and lowers frustration)

The administration has scheduled zoom meetings with our teachers to discuss and collaborate on how best we can adapt where needed, to continue providing the most productive and effective delivery of online instruction possible.   Please provide us time and understanding, as we navigate through these unprecedented times with you. I promise we will do the same for your student/s.  We also want to provide a spiritual component that is felt by our students.  The SECC Office of Education has provided a message to help with this endeavor. This can be viewed by clicking on the "virtual chapel" tab to your right.

Thank you for entrusting RAA to be a part of your child/rens educational experience.

Working together in His service,
